PADI® Divemaster (DM)
PADI® Divemaster (DM)

Getting serious about diving? Want to take the first step into the professional leagues? The PADI Divemaster course is your ticket!

Learn how to lead underwater tours, assist with scuba classes and inspire others to care about the ocean. Hone your skills and be the diver everyone admires.

A PADI Divemaster is someone who exhibits a high level of diving skill, professional level leadership, a high level of dive theory knowledge and who is generally a well-rounded and seasoned diver. You will learn skills such as mapping a dive site, high quality diving skills demonstrations and fine-tuning your rescue abilities. As a Divemaster you will be able to supervise divers on fun dives, assist instructors with training and conduct certain PADI programs independently. PADI Divemaster is the most popular and most recognised professional scuba certification in the world. PADI Divemasters enjoy abundant career opportunities, get paid to scuba dive and share their love for the ocean.

The Divemaster rating is your stepping stone to becoming a full-fledged PADI Instructor.

Pre-requisites:

  1. A PADI Rescue diver (or equivalent rating from another organisation).
  2. Have logged at least 40 dives as documented by a personal logbook.
  3. Must be at least 18 years old at the start of the course.
  4. Must have completed an Emergency First Response course within two years of the start date, or have current CPR/First Aid training from another recognised training agency.

Three Steps to Certification

STEP 1 eLearning:

Part 1 - PADI eLearning for Divemaster Course

The PADI eLearning for Divemaster Course will take about 50 hours to complete. You will cover 9 theory topics online, including online assessments. These are the 9 theory topics:

1. The Role and Characteristics of the PADI DM.

2. Supervising Diving Activities.

3. Assisting with Students.

4. Dive Safety & Risk Management.

5. Divemaster Conducted Programs.

6. Specialised Skills and Activities.

7. The Business of Diving & Your Career.

8. Awareness of the Dive Environment.

9. Dive Theory Review.

You will need to enrol by contacting us and your product code will be sent to you upon receiving the payment. This begins a personal mentoring relationship from the start, solidifying the connection between instructors and PADI Divemaster candidates.

Part 2 - PADI eLearning for Dive Theory (optional)

The optional PADI eLearning for Dive Theory takes 12 to 15 hours to complete. It is a comprehensive overview of Dive Physics, Dive Physiology, Dive Skills, Environmental Considerations, Dive Equipment, and Decompression Theory and the Recreational Dive Planner (RDP). Each section comprises multimedia instructional material followed by questions to review what you have learnt. Divemaster candidates will find this course useful to prepare for the Divemaster exams. While this portion is optional, we highly recommend everyone to take the course for personal enrichment.

STEP 2 Confined Water (Pool Training):
5 Confined Water sessions are included. For Practical Assessment 1, there must be either (a) at least 1 real OWD student or (b) 4 mock OWD students. Additional pool sessions, if required, will be chargeable at S$ 150 per pool session per candidate (2 or more candidates) or S$ 180 per pool (1-to-1). Each pool will take about 6 hours.

STEP 3 Open Water Training:

6 Open Water sessions are included; however, the number of dives needed to complete the course will depend on the completion of the performance requirements. For the conduct of all practical assessments, each dive must have either (a) at least one real OWD student or (b) four mock OWD students. Depending on the number of candidates on each trip, as well as the performance of the candidates, the number of items completed may not be equivalent to the number of dives on that trip.
