Why Gentle Preservatives Matter in High-Quality Wet Wipes

Because wet wipes are made with over 90% water, they provide an ideal environment for bacteria, yeast, and mould to grow if left unprotected. A carefully selected, well-tolerated preservative system helps keep the wipes microbiologically safe from the day they are manufactured until the last wipe is used.

The goal is not to add harsh chemicals, but to use preservatives that are effective at very low concentrations while remaining gentle on the skin.

Without adequate preservation, contaminated wipes can pose a greater risk of skin irritation and infection than the preservatives themselves. Modern wet wipe formulations are therefore designed to balance microbial protection with excellent skin compatibility, ensuring every wipe remains fresh, safe, and reliable throughout its shelf life.
